Johnston’s Seamount and Roca Ben are two of the better scuba diving destinations along Baja’s central or northern pacific coast, with excellent visibility and a wide assortment of both warm and cool water fish. Both are about a half dozen miles off coast.

Ocean temperatures run about the same as farther north, ranging from 55 to 60 degrees in winter and 65 to 70 degrees during the summer months.

The wetlands around the Bahia de San Quintin are some of Baja’s top hunting grounds, thanks largely to Black Brant, a type of goose that settles here between December and February.

There are two distinct sides to this town, although the one most travelers see is Valle de San Quintin, a chain of simple homes and businesses strung haphazardly for several miles along the highway.
